Want cooling while keeping your heating?

Dedicated air conditioning is worth exploring when the heating system still fits your plans. If heating replacement is also ahead, compare a heat pump before choosing cooling-only equipment.

  • Cooling-only goal

Plan around the heating equipment you want to retain.

  • Both-season goal

Consider heating and cooling in the same upgrade.

  • Room-level comfort

Include upstairs rooms and closed bedrooms in the plan.

These observations help frame the assessment. A warm upstairs room does not automatically mean the outdoor unit needs to be larger.

Central AC or a heat pump?

If heating replacement may be next, compare both-season options now. It may change which cooling equipment is worth installing.

The right size matters more than the biggest size

Cooling needs depend on the home and its rooms. Oversized equipment can switch off too quickly to remove enough moisture, leaving the home feeling cool but clammy. Ask how the recommended capacity fits the cooling load.

Why the room plan matters

  • Doors closed

A comfortable living room does not tell you how a closed bedroom will be heated or cooled. Include those bedrooms in the plan.

  • Doors open

An open door changes air movement. Distance, layout and capacity still determine whether those rooms receive enough heating or cooling.

Cooling needs a route into—and out of—the room

In a central system, supply ducts bring conditioned air in and return paths bring air back. Tell us which rooms stay warm so distribution can be considered alongside replacement equipment.

What affects the installation work?

Once you choose to proceed, agree preparation, payment arrangements and a schedule directly with AirCrest.

  • Equipment compatibility

Confirm suitable indoor equipment and controls.

  • Position and access

Review the outdoor location and connection routes.

  • Electrical work and drainage

Identify required connections and who handles each task.

Compare the complete cooling quote

Make sure both proposals cover the same rooms and retained heating equipment. That makes the purchase totals a more useful comparison.

  • The system and rooms

Exact configuration, capacity and the rooms or zones the proposal is intended to serve.

  • The work around it

Connections, controls, electrical or duct work, removal and finishes where included. List excluded work separately.

  • The coverage afterwards

Written equipment warranty and installation labour terms, including exclusions and any registration requirements.

  • The purchase and payment

Total purchase price and payment arrangements. Read any financing offer as a separate agreement.
